The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. Headquartered in Austin, CTFB serves a 21-county region with an unwavering commitment to increasing food access and combating hunger and poverty through various programs and initiatives. The organization acts as a vital resource for over 612,000 food-insecure individuals annually by providing nutritious food, advocacy, education, and innovative solutions to transform lives and uplift the community. Their extensive network includes approximately 250 nonprofit community partners, enabling CTFB to maximize its reach and impact effectively. CTFB is proud of its culture, which reflects core values including Service, Integrity, Dignity, Collaboration, and Innovation, providing a collaborative and community-focused environment. They seek mission-driven professionals dedicated to shaping a healthier future and working towards a vision where every Central Texan has immediate and equitable access to nutritious food.
The Neighbor Services Receptionist at Central Texas Food Bank plays a critical frontline role as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking food assistance. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and administrative support by coordinating between the client entry points, which include both the helpline and walk-ins, and various client programs. Serving as the primary front-desk representative, this role manages client intake procedures for the Fresh Harvest Market, handles helpline inquiries, and facilitates client screening, referrals, and information dissemination related to food assistance programs. The Neighbor Services Receptionist interacts with a diverse population and embodies the organization's mission to nourish hungry people and lead the fight against hunger within the community. This role also involves building strong collaborative relationships internally with different teams including Benefits and Enrollment Services, Workforce Training, Community Nutrition, Food Sourcing, and Logistics, ensuring seamless and efficient service delivery for clients. Responsibilities include monitoring a high volume of incoming client contacts both in person and via calls, supporting market operations, maintaining a welcoming and client-centered environment, and handling sensitive client information confidentially and professionally. The position demands excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, all while upholding CTFB's social and ethical commitments. The engagement extends beyond administrative support to include participation in community events and emergency response efforts to maximize outreach and impact. This full-time role operates primarily from Tuesday through Saturday, with varying hours to meet community needs, and requires a bilingual English-Spanish candidate due to the diversity of the client base. Overall, the Neighbor Services Receptionist is essential in delivering client services from a trauma-informed, strength-based perspective, and plays a vital role in advancing CTFB's mission to alleviate hunger and improve the quality of life for Central Texans.
