Job Description

Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) stands as the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and is a proud member of the Feeding America network. Headquartered in Austin, CTFB serves a broad 21-county region dedicated to increasing food access by providing nutritious food and leading advocacy efforts to combat hunger and poverty. The organization’s extensive efforts through programs, education, and innovative solutions have a meaningful impact, reaching over 612,000 food-insecure individuals annually via a combination of direct-service initiatives and partnerships with approximately 250 nonprofit community organizations. As a workplace, CTFB promotes a culture grounded in Service, Integrity, Dignity, Collaboration, and Innovation, encouraging professionals who are dedicated to making a difference and shaping a healthier future for Central Texas communities. Their vision seeks to ensure immediate and equitable access to nutritious food for all Central Texans.

The Neighbor Services Receptionist plays a crucial role at CTFB as the frontline ambassador, being the first point of contact for individuals seeking food assistance. This position is based within the Neighbor Programs and Services department and reports directly to the Neighbor Services Manager. The Receptionist’s core responsibility is to provide excellent customer service, acting as the initial touchpoint for clients through helpline inquiries and walk-in visits. This role involves conducting client intake for the food market, managing helpline inquiries, and providing accurate information, screening, and referrals to ensure neighbors receive the support they need. The Receptionist’s interaction with diverse populations is pivotal in furthering CTFB’s mission to nourish hungry people and lead community efforts against hunger.

The role requires robust coordination and collaboration with various CTFB teams, including Benefits and Enrollment Services, Workforce Training, Community Nutrition, Food Sourcing, and Logistics. These relationships are key to facilitating smooth and efficient service delivery to neighbors, ensuring they are connected appropriately to the resources available. Success in this role demands strong professionalism, effective communication, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Overall, the Neighbor Services Receptionist represents the welcoming face of CTFB’s hunger-relief efforts and plays a vital part in supporting the organization’s vision to eliminate food insecurity in Central Texas.
