Job Description

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is a leading manufacturer and service provider within the aerospace industry, renowned for designing, developing, manufacturing, marketing, and supporting some of the most technologically advanced business jet aircraft in the world. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, Gulfstream combines a commitment to innovation with decades of aerospace expertise to deliver high-quality products and services to its global customer base. The company fosters a supportive and dynamic work environment that encourages engineering excellence, professional development, and teamwork. Gulfstream’s operations emphasize safety, precision, and performance, setting a high standard within the aviation and aerospace sectors. Located in Savannah, Gulfstream’s facilities offer cutting-edge technology and resources, facilitating the growth and success of its engineering professionals and the wider team.

The role of NDT Engineer - TS II at Gulfstream Savannah is a critical position focused on ensuring the integrity and quality of aerospace components and materials through advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques. This full-time position involves leveraging deep expertise in NDT systems, equipment, and technology to support inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes that meet rigorous industry standards such as NAS 410. The engineer will play a pivotal role in writing, reviewing, and maintaining NDT inspection procedures, as well as facilitating technical training and support for Level I and II technicians within the company. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, the candidate will work closely with Operations, Supplier Quality, Composite Fabrication, and other cross-functional teams to address complex engineering challenges, develop strategic plans to improve production efficiency, and ensure compliance with product safety and affordability objectives.

In this position, the NDT Engineer will be recognized as a subject matter expert within the field, expected to guide the resolution of intricate technical issues and lead root cause analysis efforts for material or mechanical failures identified through testing. The engineer will also have the opportunity to influence product development through early involvement in design reviews and engineering phases, defining NDT requirements that support both manufacturability and maintainability. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills for conveying technical findings across multiple departments, and a methodical approach to problem-solving when confronted with ambiguous data or equipment malfunctions.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline, supplemented by significant professional experience (minimum 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience). Advanced degrees are advantageous and can provide additional credit towards experience requirements. The work environment requires up to 25% travel and operates under a first-shift schedule. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development and production of Gulfstream’s state-of-the-art aerospace products, ensuring the highest levels of quality and innovation are maintained throughout the engineering and manufacturing processes. This role is full-time and provides an inclusive, equal opportunity workplace for professionals eager to advance their careers in aerospace engineering.
