Job Description

North Dakota Parks and Recreation is a state agency dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty and recreational opportunities across the state of North Dakota. With a commitment to providing exceptional outdoor experiences, the agency manages a diverse portfolio of parks and recreational areas that attract visitors from across the nation and around the world. Known for its stunning landscapes ranging from rolling prairies to serene lakes and rugged Badlands, North Dakota Parks and Recreation fosters a deep appreciation for nature, conservation, and outdoor adventure. The agency emphasizes community engagement, environmental stewardship, and visitor satisfaction, continually striving to create memorable, safe, and accessible experiences for all who visit the state's parks. Operating within a well-established governmental framework, the agency offers competitive benefits and a supportive work environment that values collaboration, innovation, and public service.

The role of State Parks Concession Trailer Operator is a unique and dynamic opportunity within North Dakota Parks and Recreation. This seasonal position is ideal for motivated adventurers who have a passion for the outdoors, enjoy meeting diverse people, and thrive in a mobile work environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a concession trailer traveling to various state parks, serving visitors with food and beverages while providing friendly and efficient customer service. Operators can expect to explore some of the most breathtaking parks in North Dakota, experience life on the road, and engage with visitors from all over the world. The position offers a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure excellent service coverage but requires adaptability and enthusiasm for working in ever-changing environments. Depending on the assignment, workers may stay in state-owned recreational vehicles (RVs) or use their own, adding an element of adventure to the job.

In addition to customer interaction, the concession trailer operator will manage inventory, maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensure compliance with all food safety regulations. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor settings subject to varying weather conditions. Operators will also collaborate closely with other park staff to contribute to a positive overall visitor experience. This position offers a valuable chance to combine a love of nature, travel, and customer service while supporting the mission of North Dakota Parks and Recreation. Seasonal housing may be available, adding convenience for those joining the team. Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis until all openings are filled, providing an accessible route for those eager to join a respected governmental team dedicated to outdoor excellence.
