Established with a commitment to excellence, NGIS Norfolk - NW Annex operates under the standards set by NHG, known for its high-quality lodging and guest services primarily supporting military and government clientele. As part of its team-oriented culture, the organization places a strong emphasis on operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and maintaining pristine environments that enhance guest experiences.

The position of Housekeeping Supervisor at NGIS Norfolk - NW Annex plays a critical role in upholding these standards by overseeing the performance of housekeeping and laundry staff. This full-time role, offering a competitive pay rate of $22.90 per hour, is designed for candidates passionate about leadership in the hospitality housekeeping sector. The supervisor ensures that daily cleaning duties are executed meticulously across guest rooms, public areas, and outdoor spaces, guaranteeing that the property meets or exceeds NHG standards consistently.

In this role, the supervisor manages a team comprising Housekeeping Laundry Attendants and Housekeeping Leads, coordinating their activities to optimize operational effectiveness and resource use. The supervisor facilitates seamless communication between housekeepers, front desk personnel, and maintenance staff, thereby ensuring that rooms are impeccably maintained and ready for occupancy. Additionally, this role involves direct hands-on housekeeping duties as needed, especially during staff shortages or peak demand periods.

A vital part of the job is the use of the Property Management System (PMS) to prepare daily housekeeping reports and schedule staff effectively. The supervisor conducts regular inspections of rooms, laundry facilities, and common areas, documenting findings to maintain high standards and initiate preventive maintenance when necessary. Training staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance related to safety data sheets (SDS), fire prevention, environmental, and industrial hygiene practices is also a key responsibility.

The Housekeeping Supervisor ensures the upkeep and security of cleaning equipment, supplies, linens, and in-room amenities by monitoring inventory levels and coordinating orders with suppliers. This includes conducting monthly and quarterly inventories and ensuring that all supplies are available when needed, thereby minimizing disruptions in housekeeping operations.

Moreover, this position involves personnel management responsibilities such as evaluating employee performance, recommending awards or disciplinary actions, approving leave requests, and participating in recruitment by interviewing candidates and recommending hires or promotions. The supervisor addresses guest and staff concerns promptly and tactfully, resolving issues or escalating them appropriately to maintain guest satisfaction and operational harmony.

As a hands-on leader, the Housekeeping Supervisor must be flexible and ready to perform housekeeping or laundry duties when necessary. Candidates do not need prior experience but a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Having previous experience in housekeeping, particularly with some leadership or supervisory background, is preferred. The role entails moderate physical effort, including moving furniture and operating cleaning equipment, underlining the need for stamina and attention to safety.

This opportunity with NGIS Norfolk - NW Annex offers a stimulating work environment where leadership skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality service are highly valued.
