Job Description
NGIS Norfolk - NW Annex is a reputable organization operating within the hospitality sector, specifically catering to military personnel and their families through lodging services. The establishment is focused on providing comfortable, clean, and welcoming accommodations at properties such as Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge facilities located in Chesapeake, Virginia. These facilities are designed to support the unique needs of military members traveling for duty assignments, family visits, or official functions, ensuring a standardized, high-quality experience that aligns with Navy standards and expectations.
The role being offered is a full-time Housekeeper position at one of the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge properties. With a pay range starting at $18.21 per hour, this job involves a comprehensive set of responsibilities focused on cleanliness, maintenance, and guest satisfaction within the lodging environment. The candidate will perform an extensive range of housekeeping duties covering guest rooms, interior public spaces, exterior facilities, laundry areas, storage spaces, and more. The position demands regular use of cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, polishers, and various hand tools to maintain a high standard of hygiene and order.
The housekeeper will be essential in ensuring that guest accommodations meet strict Navy hospitality standards. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and kitchens, changing linens, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning windows and ceilings, as well as performing deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining safety and security for guests by managing keys appropriately, reporting unusual occurrences, and adhering to NHG (NEXCOM Hospitality Group) safety and security protocols. The work environment demands physical effort, including moving furniture and cleaning using both hand-held and lightweight powered equipment.
Beyond the routine cleaning tasks, the housekeeper will engage with guests by providing welcoming and courteous service, ensuring all interactions promote a positive guest experience. Additional responsibilities include handling minor repairs, managing lost and found items, assisting with the breakfast bar setup and cleanup, and operating laundry services. Completion of required food handling and housekeeping certifications within six months is mandatory to maintain compliance with NHG standards. Moreover, the role may require travel to other lodging facilities, necessitating a valid state driver's license.
Renowned for its dedication to service excellence, NGIS Norfolk - NW Annex offers an inviting and stable work environment for candidates interested in a career in hospitality with a particular focus on military lodging. This full-time opportunity, with benefits and opportunities for certification and training, presents a solid pathway for individuals aiming to contribute meaningfully to the comfort and satisfaction of military guests.
