Job Description

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a prominent global Jewish human rights organization dedicated to confronting antisemitism and hate while defending the safety of Israel and Jewish communities worldwide. Established in 1977, SWC has cultivated a substantial constituency of over 400,000 member families, advocating for justice, education, and awareness. The Center operates internationally with key locations in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. As an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), it maintains recognized participation at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe, facilitating relationships with top government officials worldwide. The SWC's flagship educational initiative, the Museum of Tolerance, opened in Los Angeles in 1993 and has received global acclaim for challenging visitors to confront bigotry, racism, and understand the Holocaust in historical and present-day contexts. Complementing this work, the organization produces impactful theatrical documentaries through its Moriah Media division, two of which have earned Academy Awards for Best Feature Documentary.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced senior leader to join as the National Director of Events and Programming Strategy. This senior leadership role entails building and managing a comprehensive national portfolio of events and initiatives designed to advance SWC's mission while generating significant revenue. Beyond traditional event production, this position demands strategic expertise, business development skills, partnership cultivation, and execution capabilities to lead a high-impact, revenue-generating division. The National Director will design and implement innovative programming that transforms the organization’s core mission into engaging experiences.

This role requires a professional with the ability to engage diverse audiences, elevate SWC's institutional visibility, and support sustainable growth. The National Director will be responsible for overseeing the operation of events and fundraising endeavors, managing complex, six-figure budgets, and delivering high-quality, VIP-focused experiences that grow donor engagement and develop new funding streams. Additionally, the role calls for collaboration with internal teams such as development, communications, advocacy, education, and regional offices to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic priorities. The National Director will serve as a key ambassador building lasting partnerships with the entertainment, media, corporate, academic, and cultural sectors. Through this position, the leader will drive national and international fundraising campaigns, manage honoree relationships, secure sponsorships, and explore innovative business models to expand SWC's reach and influence.

The impact of this position is far-reaching, contributing directly to the growth, visibility, and financial sustainability of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance. It requires an entrepreneurial and decisive individual who can navigate complex environments and balance mission alignment with audience engagement and revenue objectives. This is a unique opportunity to lead transformative programming that furthers education about antisemitism, human rights, and civic responsibility on a global stage while promoting positive cultural and civic engagement. SWC values a collaborative work environment that supports professional growth and is committed to diversity and inclusion. The organization offers a balanced work-life culture, generous time off, and comprehensive employee benefits recognizing the value of its workforce.
