The Laborer Foreman role at Mortenson is a critical supervisory and hands-on position responsible for managing labor crews onsite, coordinating materials, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently according to construction schedules and company standards. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team on impactful projects while benefiting from a comprehensive benefit package. The primary focus of the role is to oversee labor activities, direct teams of laborers including different levels such as I, II, Journeyman, Apprentice, and Helpers, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
In this role, the Laborer Foreman will utilize skills in reading blueprints and schematic drawings for effective planning and execution of work procedures. Supervisory responsibilities include setting work sequences, analyzing schedules, estimating worker-hour requirements, and ensuring that projects progress smoothly under broad assignments. Hands-on involvement with tools and machinery is expected, including the operation of forklifts, skid loaders, power buggies, and various hand and power tools. The Laborer Foreman will also be instrumental in resolving work-related challenges, maintaining time records, and contributing to cost estimation efforts.
Mortenson values individuals who demonstrate strong teamwork orientation, positive attitudes, excellent communication, and an openness to diverse input and feedback. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of carpentry experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity, and hold relevant safety certifications such as OSHA 10, with OSHA 30 preferred. Additional certifications like Telehandler Forklift and boom lift/scissor lift certifications are highly desirable. The position demands physical endurance involving repetitive hand, arm, leg movements and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, often in collaboration with team members or using equipment.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years carpentry experience
- at least 2 years in supervisory role
- telehandler forklift certification
- boom lift/scissor lift certification
- OSHA 10 certification required, OSHA 30 preferred
- valid driver’s license
- ability to operate various tools and machinery including forklifts and power buggies
- strong teamwork and communication skills
- capability to perform repetitive physical movements
- ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs with assistance
- legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
