The role of Dinner Cook at Napa Rose offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about fine dining cuisine. This position encompasses preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of foods, from stocks, soups, and sauces to meats, vegetables, and desserts. Dinner Cooks at Napa Rose must skillfully measure and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment and are responsible for maintaining food quality and safety through adherence to stringent HACCP procedures. Working in a fast-paced team environment, Dinner Cooks must demonstrate speed, accuracy, and efficiency while adapting to changing production requirements. This role demands proficiency in culinary techniques, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. The pay rate for this role in California is $28.00 per hour, with select benefits offered as part of the compensation package, including medical and financial benefits depending on the level and position offered. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Passion for culinary and delighting guests with food
  • Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
  • Basic understanding of kitchen equipment
  • Reliable and punctual

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in culinary field with a focus on high volume production
  • Culinary education degree or equivalent experience required with less than 2 years of experience in culinary field
  • Proficient knife skills
  • Proven knowledge of culinary techniques and terminology
  • Proven ability to read and understand recipes
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to production requirements in a fast-paced team environment
  • Speed, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Ability to work well under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare, season, and cook stocks, soups, sauces, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in hotels and restaurants
  • Read menus to estimate food requirements and procure it from storage
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Add seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking according to personal judgment and experience
  • Observe and test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with a fork to determine that it is cooked
  • Responsible for ensuring food is cooked to proper standards
  • Clean kitchen equipment and practice all HACCP procedures
