The museum houses thousands of artifacts, rotating exhibits, and unique collections that attract visitors from across the globe. This world-class institution is passionate about delivering an engaging, educational, and memorable experience to every guest who walks through its doors. The museum not only honors the legacy of American automotive history but also strives to maintain a welcoming atmosphere where both enthusiasts and casual visitors alike can appreciate the significance of the automotive industry in American culture.
The Event Coordinator role at the Museum of American Speed is a dynamic and integral position responsible for building strong relationships and driving engagement with the community and partners by promoting the museum’s event spaces for private and corporate functions. This position involves independent management of the planning, coordination, communication, and execution of all museum events, both internal and external. Working in close collaboration with the Operations, Management, Development, and Volunteer teams, the Event Coordinator ensures every event is executed flawlessly and leaves a lasting impression.
This role demands a resourceful, proactive individual who excels without the need for constant day-to-day oversight and can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. An expert in event planning, the coordinator acts as a key ambassador for the museum’s automotive collection, enhancing the guest experience by showcasing the museum's unique exhibits through carefully curated events. Responsibilities include managing event logistics such as contracts, food and beverage services, audiovisual equipment, décor, signage, and client communications.
The Event Coordinator is also tasked with financial oversight of events, including budget management, invoicing, and profitability tracking to support decision-making and future event strategies. The role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a customer service mindset, as well as the ability to remain calm and problem-solve effectively when last-minute changes occur. The ability to work flexible hours, such as evenings and weekends during events, is important.
At the Museum of American Speed, the values of collaboration as One Team, positivity, putting people first, empowering voices, and being driven to succeed are deeply embedded in every aspect of the work culture. This role is ideal for someone who aligns with these values and is eager to contribute positively to a vibrant team dedicated to excellence in event planning and delivering memorable experiences. The Museum offers a supportive work environment with opportunities for continuous professional growth and development.
