The position of Multisite Maintenance Technician at Equity Residential is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment, managing maintenance responsibilities across two or more apartment communities. Reporting to the General Service Director or Service Manager, this role plays a critical part in fulfilling the company’s promise to deliver exceptional resident experiences marked by smooth move-ins, responsive service, and personal attention. The Multisite Maintenance Technician handles a variety of tasks ranging from preparing apartments for market readiness to responding swiftly to resident service requests.
The technician will be responsible for maintenance work across the community, including repairs, routine upkeep of both interior and exterior spaces, and ensuring communal areas are clean and welcoming. This includes duties such as plumbing, electrical, appliance, and HVAC repairs, as well as painting and general repairs as required. The role demands readiness to manage emergency service calls, participate actively in scheduled maintenance programs, and remain in compliance with relevant housing laws and internal maintenance policies.

Job Requirements
- Hands-on general service maintenance experience required
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment, and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required if operating motorized vehicle
- Computer literacy and ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must be able to work any assigned shift including weekends
- Must be able to respond to emergencies after hours and on weekends when assigned on-call duties
- Must have a smartphone with updated software and password protection as per company policy
- Ability to perform physical tasks including prolonged standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs
Job Qualifications
- Hands-on general service maintenance experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment, and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and good driving record if operating motorized vehicle
- Computer literacy
- Effective communication skills in English both oral and written
- Ability to work any assigned shift including weekends
- Ability to respond to emergencies after normal business hours
- Familiarity with use of smartphones for job-related functions
- Ability to perform physical activities such as prolonged standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Job Duties
- Prepares all market-ready apartments
- Responds to resident service requests and concerns in a timely manner
- Performs various maintenance functions
- Maintains grounds and common areas and keeps them free of trash, debris and if applicable, snow
- Performs on-call emergency service as required
- Performs special maintenance projects as assigned
- Reports any maintenance concerns for repairs to the Service Manager
- Performs scheduled maintenance program
- Is knowledgeable of federal and state apartment housing laws, as well as internal policies, initiatives and systems regarding maintenance
- Attends and participates in training programs as required
- Represents the company in a professional manner at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
