The role of the Multisite Maintenance Technician at Equity Residential is essential to maintaining the high standards expected in its residential communities. Under the general direction of the General Service Director or Service Manager, this position supports maintenance efforts across two or more apartment communities, ensuring that properties are well-maintained and residents receive prompt and courteous service. The Multisite Maintenance Technician is responsible for addressing resident service requests, preparing market-ready apartments, performing various maintenance tasks, and maintaining the grounds and common areas, including snow removal where applicable. This role requires exceptional customer service skills, technical mechanical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Additionally, technicians participate in training programs and must stay knowledgeable about relevant federal and state apartment housing laws and internal maintenance policies.
Compensation for this role ranges from $27.71 to $33.86 per hour, with eligibility for overtime pay and performance incentives. Starting pay is based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. Job Requirements
- Hands-on general service maintenance experience required
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment (if applicable), and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation is required if operating motorized vehicles during work
- Computer literacy and effective oral and written communication in English
- Must be able to work any assigned shift including weekends
- Must be able to respond to emergencies after normal business hours and on weekends
- Service team employees must use their own smartphone compliant with security and software requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding activities including lifting up to 50 lbs
Job Qualifications
- Hands-on general service maintenance experience required
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment (if applicable), and perform interior repairs and painting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer literacy, and must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English for all work-related purposes
- Must be able to work any assigned shift, including weekends, with shifts changing according to business needs
- Must be able to respond to emergencies after normal business hours and on weekends when assigned on-call responsibilities
- Ability to perform numerous physical activities that require considerable use of hands, arms and legs including lifting and handling materials up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver's license and good driving record if operating motorized vehicles during work
Job Duties
- Prepares all market-ready apartments
- Responds to resident service requests and concerns in a timely manner
- Performs various maintenance functions
- Maintains grounds and common areas and keeps them free of trash, debris and if applicable, snow
- Performs on-call emergency service as required
- Performs special maintenance projects as assigned
- Reports any maintenance concerns for repairs to the Service Manager
- Performs scheduled maintenance program
- Is knowledgeable of federal and state apartment housing laws, as well as internal policies, initiatives and systems regarding maintenance
- Attends and participates in training programs as required
- Represents the Company in a professional manner at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
