The Multimodality Technologist position at Houston Methodist is an experienced and vital role within the hospital’s direct patient care team. This role requires proficiency in performing a diverse range of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures across two or more specialty modalities of moderate to high complexity, such as X-ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology. The technologist is expected to operate independently, exercising sound clinical judgment and advanced skills in managing complex diagnostic procedures and patient care scenarios. Additionally, this role may encompass responsibilities related to admissions, registration, medical assisting, and patient transportation as required.

The Multimodality Technologist provides crucial support to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assistance with sterile techniques, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This position adheres strictly to radiation safety standards established by regulatory authorities to optimize patient protection. The role also involves active collaboration with all members of the healthcare team to facilitate effective communication and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on superior patient outcomes.

This full-time role requires working weekend shifts from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays and includes on-call duties for emergencies. The technologist must possess basic computer skills to operate hospital and radiology information systems effectively, maintain accurate patient records, and document procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional interpersonal abilities, flexibility, and adaptability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision, ensuring efficient workflow management and quality service delivery.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures including X-ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, and interventional radiology exams
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic procedures including sterile technique
  • Assess and respond to patient needs to optimize care and imaging quality
  • Perform patient-related tasks such as transporting, registration, admissions, answering phones, monitoring vital signs, EKGs, and starting IVs as needed
  • Follow radiation safety standards and maintain infection control protocols
  • Conduct quality control and maintenance of imaging equipment
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, special projects, and ongoing professional development
  • Provide accurate documentation and enter charges promptly
