Job Description

Brigham Young University (BYU) is the flagship higher education institution of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a private university located in Provo, Utah, BYU is widely recognized for combining world-class academic excellence with a strong foundation in religious values. The university's mission is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, aiming to assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life. BYU's campus is not only beautiful and historic but also fosters a unique culture of belonging, learning, and spiritual growth. This environment is enriched by weekly devotionals, endless opportunities for both personal and professional development, and a commitment to the faith and well-being of its students and employees. As an employer, BYU strongly prefers candidates who are faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, emphasizing a shared commitment to the university's values and mission.

The MTC Food Service Worker (Temporary) position at BYU Dining Services is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced food service setting and wish to contribute to the mission of BYU. This summer temporary role extends through August of 2026 and involves assisting with the Missionary Training Center (MTC) dining operations. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and some holidays, and is ideal for applicants who are eager to gain food service experience or already have some background in this area. This job is not only a chance to earn a competitive wage but also to work within a supportive, faith-based community on a historic campus. The starting pay begins at $12.00 per hour, depending on experience, with additional benefits such as meal credits, parking, and access to university resources.

In this role, food service workers are tasked with delivering excellent customer service, preparing and cooking food to order, serving meals, hosting diners, managing cashier duties, and maintaining cleanliness within the dining area. A valid Food Handler's Permit is required and can be obtained upon hire, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. This position is designed to support BYU's larger mission by contributing to the seamless operation of the MTC dining facilities, which serve an essential role in the daily lives of missionaries and staff members. The role also offers candidates the chance to develop valuable skills in customer service, teamwork, and food preparation while upholding the standards and values of the university and church community.
