The cook position at Cliff Castle Casino Hotel involves preparing various food items according to established recipes while ensuring that all food safety and sanitation requirements are met consistently. This role is critical to the smooth operation of the food preparation areas, including working on the line and buffet stations, and supporting culinary operations for daily meals and special events. The cook is responsible for coordinating preparation and production activities, assisting with inventory control, performing opening and closing duties, and maintaining clean and organized work areas. Working closely with the Sous Chef, this role requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience to guests. This position offers opportunities for growth and the possibility of internships or apprenticeships for certain candidates, reflecting the employer's dedication to workforce development and community support. The position requires availability for all shifts including weekends and holidays, eligibility to work in the U.S., and adherence to gaming license requirements.

Job Requirements

  • must be 18+ years old and be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a drug test and background check for an AZ gaming license
  • must adhere to all Cliff Castle Casino Hotel policies and procedures
  • must be committed to providing exceptional guest service through a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment
  • aim to exceed guest expectations with attentive, personalized service and prompt responses and resolution

Job Qualifications

  • possess general knowledge of preparations of various food items required
  • minimum of 1 years experience as a cook in a professional food establishment
  • possess excellent communication (verbal) skills
  • be able to read, understand, and execute recipes correctly
  • be highly organized and able to create and monitor work tasks with a group
  • required to have or obtain food handlers and alcohol service certifications

Job Duties

  • perform pre-opening and on-going back line, hot box, and buffet checks
  • work on the line or buffet
  • coordinate line or buffet preparation and production
  • meet with sous chef daily to review special events and plan prep and production for the day
  • perform opening and closing procedures ensuring clean, organized, and safe food handling areas and procedures
  • coordinate and perform all pre-shift prep, set-up, restocking of cooler, and properly rotating food items
  • perform other duties as assigned
