Job Description
Mears Transportation Group is a leading transportation service provider in the greater Orlando region, known for delivering safe, reliable, and customer-focused transit experiences to visitors and residents alike. With a strong reputation built over many years, Mears specializes in airport shuttles, resort transportation, event transit services, and various other passenger transport operations across Central Florida. The company prides itself on quality service, maintaining a team-oriented work environment, and investing in its employee development through paid training and continuous performance incentives. Mears has a significant family-oriented culture, making it a preferred employer for individuals seeking a secure and rewarding career in the transportation sector.
The full-time Motor Coach Operator role at Mears Transportation offers an exceptional opportunity to become an integral part of the Orlando vacation experience. This position provides a competitive hourly wage starting from $21.25 to $21.75 per hour, depending on experience, combined with a monthly performance program that rewards outstanding service with additional earnings. One unique aspect of employment with Mears is that drivers are compensated from clock-in to clock-out, unlike competitors who only pay for active driving time. In addition to a base wage, there are opportunities for paid gratuity and tips, which can significantly increase total income. Top performers at Mears can earn over $80,000 annually before performance bonuses, while the average driver at the company earns approximately $60,000 per year.
The company offers paid CDL license training for those candidates without a Commercial Driver License, enabling career advancement and skill-building. Being home daily rather than being away on the road for extended periods makes this role especially attractive for individuals who value quality time with their families. Mears also emphasizes exceptional management support, teamwork, and comprehensive healthcare benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage. Additional perks include company-matched 401k plans, paid time off, and a welcoming culture committed to employee well-being and professional growth.
This Motor Coach Operator position requires professionalism, hospitality, and strong customer service skills. Drivers represent the first and last impression of a guest's journey, playing a crucial role in creating memorable experiences. A valid Class A or B CDL with a passenger endorsement is preferred but not mandatory since Mears provides CDL school training for suitable candidates. Knowledge of the Greater Central Florida area is beneficial but not a strict requirement. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license with at least three years of driving experience in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, and maintain a satisfactory driving record as defined by the company.
The role involves transporting passengers safely and efficiently aboard motor coaches, transit buses, and trolleys throughout Orlando's busy tourist and local circuits. Drivers also assist passengers boarding and exiting, handle luggage carefully, and uphold a friendly, professional demeanor at all times. This position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of Orlando's bustling travel industry.
In summary, Mears Transportation Group offers a rewarding full-time employment opportunity with competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, paid training, and an opportunity to build a long-term career within a respected and well-established company. The position is ideal for individuals passionate about transportation, customer service, and making a positive impact on the Orlando visitor experience.
