The role of Morning Barista & Caf Server at Next Door Caf & Bakery is vital in creating memorable guest experiences and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere throughout business hours. The position is a part-time weekday role, operating Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., totaling approximately 36 hours per week. Ideal candidates are energetic, warm, and reliable individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and who exude hospitality, professionalism, and a genuine passion for excellent coffee and service.
Morning Baristas & Caf Servers handle a broad range of responsibilities from preparing specialty coffee and espresso drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, matcha drinks, teas, and seasonal specialty beverages to operating a La Marzocco espresso machine with precision and consistency in quality. They are instrumental in delivering guest service excellence by taking orders, processing payments, and assisting customers with their selections from the bakery and caf offerings.
Success in this role demands the ability to multitask efficiently and maintain composure during busy service periods while upholding a clean, organized, and fully stocked service environment. Maintaining food safety and sanitation standards is a non-negotiable aspect of the job, along with collaborating smoothly with kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Additional duties include assisting with daily opening tasks such as prep work, restocking, light cleaning, and occasionally supporting caf events or expanded service offerings.

Job Requirements
- Previous barista experience preferred
- Experience operating a commercial espresso machine, preferably a La Marzocco
- Ability to prepare high-quality espresso drinks consistently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
- Weekend availability required
- Current Utah Food Handler Permit required
- Current Utah Sips & Tips certification required, or ability to obtain certification upon hire
- Bartending experience is highly desirable, particularly experience preparing craft cocktails, wine service, and guest-facing beverage hospitality
