Next Door Cafe & Bakery, located in Provo, Utah, is a new weekday cafe and bakery venture created by the team behind the well-known Block Restaurant. This establishment brings a fresh and vibrant coffee experience to the community, serving expertly crafted specialty coffee and espresso beverages alongside delicious bakery items in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Emphasizing quality, community, and hospitality, Next Door Cafe & Bakery aims to quickly become a favorite daily destination for locals and visitors alike. The cafe operates Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering a perfect morning and midday respite for guests seeking excellent coffee, pastries, and friendly service.

The Morning Barista & Cafe Server position at Next Door Cafe & Bakery is an excellent opportunity for energetic, warm, and reliable individuals who are passionate about hospitality and enjoy interacting with customers. The Morning Barista & Server will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of specialty coffee and espresso drinks—including lattes, cappuccinos, matcha drinks, teas, and seasonal specialties—using a La Marzocco espresso machine, ensuring each beverage meets consistent quality standards. Beyond beverage preparation, the server will provide exceptional guest service, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, taking orders, processing payments, and guiding customers through bakery and cafe selections.

Multitasking efficiently during busy service times while maintaining accuracy and composure is essential for this role. Additionally, keeping the coffee station, bakery displays, dining room, and service areas clean, organized, and fully stocked forms a key part of daily responsibilities. The role also includes following strict food safety and sanitation standards, assisting with opening duties and daily prep, restocking supplies, light cleaning tasks, and collaborating with kitchen teams to ensure smooth service flow.

Moreover, the candidate will support beverage service during cafe events or whenever expanded service offerings are introduced. Ideal candidates will have previous barista experience, particularly with operating a commercial espresso machine like La Marzocco, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. A friendly and guest-focused attitude combined with the ability to multitask and stay organized are vital. Dependability, punctuality, and self-motivation are highly valued traits.

Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 30 pounds. Additionally, weekend availability is required. Candidates must hold a current Utah Food Handler Permit and either have a Utah Sips & Tips certification or be willing to obtain it upon hire. Experience in bartending, especially with craft cocktail preparation, wine service, and guest-facing beverage hospitality, is considered a significant advantage.
