Labcorp is seeking a skilled Technologist to join its Molecular Department in Overland Park, Kansas. This role operates on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., offering a unique opportunity for professionals interested in working overnight shifts in a state-of-the-art laboratory setting. As a Technologist in the Molecular Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing both routine and complex molecular testing procedures following established protocols to ensure the reliability and accuracy of test results. The role requires technical expertise in specimen evaluation, troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, preparation and testing of reagents, and maintaining quality control standards. The Technologist will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by delivering timely and precise molecular diagnostic results.
This position demands a high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to make independent technical decisions regarding testing procedures and problem resolution. The candidate will also be expected to maintain a safe work environment by adhering strictly to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Proficiency in computer use and laboratory information systems is essential to manage data effectively and support continuous laboratory operations.

Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology
- one year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an mls degree
- able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- proficient with computers
- familiarity with laboratory information systems
- ability to work independently and within a team environment
- strong communication and organizational skills
- high level of attention to detail
Job Qualifications

- current or prior labcorp experience preferred
- ascp or amt certification preferred
- proficient with computers
- familiarity with laboratory information systems

Job Duties
- determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental standard operating procedures
- monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
- identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- assist with processing of specimens when needed
- maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
