The Molding Process Technician role at Aptar Pharma is a specialized position responsible for operating and maintaining injection molding machinery, primarily during weekends. This position is critical for meeting production demands while ensuring the highest quality standards are strictly adhered to. The technician will utilize mechanical aptitude to install, adjust, troubleshoot, and maintain injection molding equipment and molds. You will be actively involved in set-up, preventative maintenance, repair of molding machines, and the proper operation of automation robotic equipment. The role requires attention to detail in maintaining safe work environments, complying with company safety protocols, and consistently producing molded components that meet quality and dimensional standards.

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of experience working with injection molding equipment including machine adjustment, troubleshooting and mold installation and removal
familiarity with automation 6/3 robotics
general knowledge of plastic materials and processes
strong mechanical aptitude and skills
detail oriented
ability to implement and tune peripherals such as 6 axis robot and grinder
strong verbal and written communication skills
strong mathematical aptitude
ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring and inspection tools
effective computer skills including documentation, reporting, file management and web skills
ability to work different work shifts
continual improvement mindset with self-learning and continuous education
ability to operate machinery in a clean room environment
physical capability to perform required duties including manual dexterity, ability to grip, hold, turn, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
knowledge and practice of safe working procedures

Job Duties

Utilize mechanical skills to install, remove and adjust injection molding machinery and equipment
troubleshoot injection molding machines, follow processes to resolve failures and other problems
perform set-up of molds for all mold changes
assist in preventative maintenance and repair of molding machines, molds and peripherals (robots)
coordinate and set up machines, robots and other equipment, perform necessary tests to ensure company compliance
train employees in the correct procedures for operation as needed
perform cleaning and general maintenance tasks
maintain a safe work environment following company safety and ISO standards
achieve adequate production levels while maintaining expected product quality
ensure molded components meet all product quality criteria including dimensional criteria
communicate to supervisor and other technicians and document all technical information and issues
participate in reducing the rate of scrap
assist in training employees in proper work methods for safe and efficient job performance
maintain records, files and other documentation pertinent to assignments
assume additional responsibilities as required
