Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Data Analytics at either the Engineer or Principal Engineer level to join their Systems Engineering organization in San Diego, CA. This full-time position offers a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off, and includes potential relocation assistance. This role requires an active US Government Secret clearance and involves approximately 10% travel. The salary range varies depending on the level, from $91,800 to $137,600 for the Engineer level and $114,000 to $171,000 for the Principal Engineer level, with eligibility for bonuses, overtime, and long-term incentives depending on the position.
The Modeling and Simulation Engineer will focus on supporting data analysis efforts within the Sustainment Systems Engineering team for the Triton Enterprise. Responsibilities include maintaining and developing data analysis tools to enhance data-driven decision-making processes. The individual will also assist with network updates and maintenance for virtual machines hosting databases. Key functions involve designing scalable data mining pipelines, establishing robust data ingestion and transformation protocols, and evolving models to support both long-term trend analysis and real-time analytics. The engineer will perform advanced statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to extract meaningful insights from heterogeneous data sources.
In addition, the role requires creating interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence and visualization tools such as MATLAB, Tableau, Power BI, and Plotly to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaboration with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and business units is crucial to define analytical problem statements and translate requirements into actionable solutions. The ideal candidate promotes innovation by staying updated on cutting-edge data science methodologies like deep learning and reinforcement learning and mentors teams to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making. Job Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field or higher
- must have relevant military, professional, or academic experience as required by level
- must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance
- must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance
- must have experience with large data set ingestion, processing, analysis, and visualization
- availability to travel 10% of the time

Job Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant military or professional experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM field with some relevant experience for Engineer level
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 3+ years or a PhD with 1+ years for Principal Engineer level
- experience ingesting, processing, storing, analyzing, and visualizing large data sets
- active US Government Secret or higher clearance
- ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance
- proficiency with Python, SQL, Tableau, MATLAB and .DAT file decoding preferred
- understanding of security patch updates to virtual machine instances
