The role of Mobile (Float) Phlebotomist at Brown University Health is a vital position responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing duties across various Outreach Patient Service Centers (PSC's), patient homes, and Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities, including assisted living environments. Reporting to the Manager of Outreach Services, the phlebotomist operates independently while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols such as universal precautions. This position demands a flexible, self-motivated professional capable of coordinating multiple assignments involving patient registration, test ordering, venipunctures, specimen tracking, and inventory management of laboratory supplies. Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential to execute specialized blood collection techniques, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and uphold patient safety at all times. This role requires a certified phlebotomist with experience in independent venipuncture, capable of working varied hours and shifts typically scheduled between 6 am to 6 pm. The Mobile (Float) Phlebotomist operates with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory service coverage across multiple locations, including Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts.
