Job Description

Iron Heart Canning serves as the industry leader in mobile beverage canning, setting a high bar for quality and operational excellence. Operating in 27 states across the U.S., Iron Heart Canning provides essential on-site canning services primarily for breweries, wineries, and other beverage manufacturers. Their commitment to excellence not only ensures superior quality in beverage packaging but also builds lasting partnerships within the craft beverage community. The company's dedication to innovation and employee growth makes it a distinguished choice for those looking to build a career in beverage canning and packaging technology.

This full-time position is for a Packaging Technician at Iron Heart Canning. The role is pivotal, involving the setup and breakdown of canning equipment, adherence to stringent Clean-In-Place procedures, and the operation and maintenance of canning lines. Starting compensation is set at $20 per hour and includes benefits such as paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), and comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage. Iron Heart encourages continuous learning and professional development, providing on-the-job training and guidance to help employees advance in their roles.

The Packaging Technician will be responsible for transporting and managing heavy equipment safely between sites, mixing chemicals, ensuring sanitation procedures meet company standards, and conducting quality checks throughout the packaging process. A strong understanding of machinery setup and troubleshooting—such as with labelers and date coders—is required. Additionally, the role demands collaborative teamwork with fellow technicians and brewery staff, as well as professional communication with customers.

Physical stamina and strength are necessary for the job, which involves pulling heavy pallets and moving the canning line, as shifts can last between 8 to 12 hours with mandatory federal and state-mandated lunch breaks. The job schedule is flexible but often requires long hours and overnight stays, depending on brewery demands. Iron Heart rewards employees who successfully pass various skill exams with progression opportunities and pay increases, fostering a career path from entry-level technician to advanced and professional technician roles.

The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude, a hardworking attitude, multitasking capability, and a passion for the craft beverage industry. While a high school diploma or equivalent is required, a college degree and prior experience with packaging machine operation are preferred but not mandatory. This role also requires physical endurance to withstand exposure to various environmental conditions and perform repetitive motion tasks essential for canning line operations.

This position may involve background checks and motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews as part of the hiring process. Iron Heart Canning remains committed to providing a supportive work environment where employees can grow their skills, advance their careers, and contribute to a company that values quality, integrity, and teamwork.
