Job Description

Roadrunner Food Bank is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and food insecurity across New Mexico. Established with the mission to provide nutritious food to those in need, Roadrunner Food Bank partners with numerous agencies, schools, and community organizations to ensure that food reaches vulnerable populations efficiently and safely. Their commitment to service, community partnerships, and innovative programs has positioned them as a critical resource in the statewide effort to combat hunger. The organization emphasizes excellent customer service, operational excellence, and community engagement in all aspects of its work, making it a respected and trusted partner in the social services sector.

The Class A CDL Driver for the Mobile Market Program is a vital role within Roadrunner Food Bank, responsible for the safe and timely transportation of food products primarily in central and northern New Mexico, with occasional assignments throughout the state and beyond. This position is essential in supporting the Mobile Market initiative, which aims to make fresh produce and other food items accessible to underserved communities by delivering directly to partner sites such as schools and organizations. As the face of Roadrunner Food Bank, the driver is expected to uphold the highest standards of customer service while demonstrating a commitment to the organization's core values. This grant-funded position under HB-1 funding extends through June 30, 2027, with potential continuation contingent on securing additional funding.

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including the transportation of fresh produce and other perishable goods, ensuring products are maintained at proper refrigerated temperatures, and cross-docking of loads to facilitate efficient distribution. Drivers manage important documentation such as DOT mandated paperwork through electronic logging devices and handle the logistical aspects of shipping orders and inventory management. Beyond driving duties, the position also requires operation of forklifts and electric pallet jacks, unloading trailers at distribution sites, and providing distribution support and leadership at Mobile Market locations.

Given the nature of the work, the driver must be prepared to work in diverse environmental conditions ranging from extreme heat to cold, and be capable of exerting physical effort including lifting heavy objects and operating equipment safely. The position demands a high level of independence and decision-making ability, along with proficiency in communication and teamwork. Additionally, the driver must maintain a clean driving record, relevant licensure, and adhere to Department of Transportation regulations to ensure compliance and safety.

Roadrunner Food Bank fosters an inclusive work environment where diversity is valued, and all employees are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the fight against hunger. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in communities by supporting food access and distribution efforts. Candidates interested in this role should be committed to the mission of ending hunger and demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude in their work. The job involves frequent travel including early starts and occasional overnight stays, reflecting the dynamic and mission-critical nature of the position. Overall, the Class A CDL Driver plays a key part in enabling Roadrunner Food Bank to fulfill its vital mission and serve the people of New Mexico effectively and compassionately.
