Chihuly Garden and Glass is a renowned art exhibition and cultural venue dedicated to the work of Dale Chihuly, one of the world's premier glass artists. The role of Bartender at Chihuly Garden and Glass is a full-time, hourly position offering a competitive wage of $21.30 per hour plus tips. This position plays a crucial part in creating memorable experiences for guests by delivering exceptional food and beverage service that exceeds expectations. The bartender is expected to have refined guest service skills, a deep understanding of the establishment's service standards, and complete knowledge of the food, beverage, wine offerings, and suggestive selling techniques. The bartender is responsible not only for serving but also for ensuring the proper setup and operation of mobile bars, including preparation of garnishes, syrups, tinctures, and batches.
Bartenders at Chihuly Garden and Glass must follow detailed service guidelines while maintaining professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude. They will engage guests with knowledge and enthusiasm about the products served and contribute to the overall ambiance and excellence of service at the venue. The role requires maintaining cleanliness, organizing storage areas, managing guest satisfaction throughout the entire service, and complying with all health, safety, and company policies. Bartenders also assist with food delivery within their sections and may support colleagues in theirs. Attention to detail, efficiency in multitasking, and excellent communication are critical aspects of the job.
This position requires bartenders to have a minimum of three years of experience in a high-volume, full-service environment, strong familiarity with food and beverage pairings, and the ability to pass food and beverage knowledge assessments. A valid Washington State Alcohol Service Permit and Food Handler's Permit are required. The physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds during a typical shift, which lasts approximately 6 to 8 hours. Job Requirements
- Must have a minimum of three-year bartending experience in a high volume, full-service environment
- must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage including wine and food pairing and suggestive selling techniques
- excellent grooming and communication skills necessary
- requires the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- must have a valid Washington State Class 12 or Class 13 Alcohol Service Permit
- must have a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit
- the ability to work well in a team-based environment and maintain a professional demeanor
- walking, standing, reaching, and lifting 30 to 50 lbs entire shift
- must be able to lift 35-50 lbs over one shoulder using large oval tray
- typical shift is approximately 6-8 hours

Job Duties
- Follow steps of service and timing guidelines
- maintain proper mixologist etiquette
- approach all guests with positive, courteous attitude
- exhibit complete knowledge of food and beverage offerings
- engage, merchandise, demonstrate excellence and proficiency, and teamwork standards
- complete all required set-up including section and room detailing prior to opening
- set up and operate mobile bars including stocking supplies, glassware, and tools
- prepare garnishes, syrups, tinctures, and batches for shifts
- label and date all prepared items
- organize, clean and maintain storage areas
- ensure all guest-facing areas are guest ready
- serve food and beverages at proper temperature and presentation
- maintain guest satisfaction throughout entire experience
- maintain side work and cleanliness during shift
- water, clear, reset, and maintain personal section
- assist other servers and mixologists
- deliver all food and beverage to assigned section and assist team members
- provide service recovery for guest and coworker interactions
- complete all assigned closing duties
- check out with manager before clocking out
- perform other duties as required by management
