Job Description
Blue Room is a vibrant food and beverage establishment located within the W Austin hotel at 200 Lavaca St, Austin, Texas. Known for its innovative cocktails and lively atmosphere, Blue Room represents a perfect blend of contemporary style and exceptional service. As part of the W Austin experience, Blue Room offers guests an upscale yet welcoming environment where they can enjoy expertly crafted drinks and impeccable hospitality. This venue attracts a diverse clientele, ranging from local residents to international visitors, all seeking a memorable social experience in the heart of downtown Austin. With an emphasis on quality ingredients and a creative approach to mixology, Blue Room maintains high standards that reflect the brand's commitment to excellence in the culinary and beverage industry.
The role at Blue Room is a part-time, non-management position focusing on bartending and bar support. The pay rate is $9.00 per hour, providing an opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in a dynamic bar environment. The position involves preparing drink orders following exact recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every cocktail served. Responsibilities also include handling wine and champagne, maintaining cleanliness and order of the bar area, and preparing fresh garnishes to enhance the presentation of beverages. Candidates will be expected to stock supplies such as ice, glassware, and paper products, as well as transport these provisions to the bar setup area efficiently.
Beyond the physical preparation and service tasks, the role requires a strong commitment to maintaining safety and security standards, including the careful handling of cash and inventory control. This includes counting the cash bank at the end of shifts, completing cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, and securing company assets adequately. Furthermore, the bartender is responsible for closing duties that ensure the bar remains in top condition for the following shift.
Customer service is a critical component of the position. The ideal candidate must welcome guests warmly, anticipate their needs, communicate professionally, and build positive relationships with both guests and team members. They should be capable of working as part of a team, supporting common goals, and effectively responding to concerns that arise in the work environment.
Physical demands of the job are significant; individuals must be confident standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods and be able to move or lift objects up to 50 pounds. The ability to maneuver through confined spaces and uneven surfaces while maintaining safety is essential.
This opportunity is particularly suitable for applicants who have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year of related work experience, though supervisory experience is not mandatory. No licenses or certifications are required, making it accessible to candidates eager to enhance their hospitality skills in a prominent Austin venue. Overall, joining Blue Room offers a rewarding experience for those passionate about delivering exceptional beverage service within a dynamic and exciting environment.
