The Mixologist role at On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is key to enhancing the guest experience by delivering excellent beverage service and personalized attention. This position involves more than just preparing drinks; the Mixologist acts as an ambassador of the brand, making guests feel valued and appreciated by creating strong relationships and ensuring a VIP-like experience. The Mixologist will greet guests with a warm and genuine smile, establish rapport quickly, and provide an enjoyable bar experience that caters to the guest’s preferences and expectations. This role demands keen observation skills to read both visual and verbal cues from guests, allowing customized service that enhances satisfaction. The Mixologist is responsible for taking accurate food and beverage orders promptly, ensuring the timely delivery of these orders, and confidently navigating the point-of-sale system while maintaining engaging interaction with guests.

Beyond service delivery, the Mixologist is expected to have thorough knowledge of the menu and the wide array of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Recommendations and upselling are part of the responsibilities, helping guests explore the menu while contributing to the restaurant’s revenue goals. The Mixologist must comply with all relevant food and beverage regulations to maintain safety and quality standards. Previous experience in similar roles like bartender, server, or front-of-house positions is advantageous, though a willingness to learn and adapt is equally valued.

Job Duties

  • The Mixologist is responsible for creating strong guest relationships and making the guest feel like a VIP
  • Specific responsibilities of the Mixologist include:
  • Greet guests with a genuine smile, build rapport, and ensure an enjoyable, quality bar experience
  • Look for visual and verbal cues to identify the experience the guest wants and customize the service to meet those expectations
  • Promptly and accurately take food and beverage requests from guests
  • Ensure expedient service of food and beverages to the guest
  • Learn menu and beverages and recommend and upsell items
  • Accurately ring all orders into the POS system while simultaneously interacting with guests when applicable
  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar guests (cocktails, beer, wine, etc.)
  • Assess guests’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
