Job Description
Dewey's Bakery, Inc., established in 1930, is a respected and long-standing bakery company dedicated to crafting deliciously sweet and savory treats that embody the local flavors cherished by the community. With nearly a century of experience, Dewey's Bakery has built a reputation for quality and passion, emphasizing the creation of products that bring people together to slow down, celebrate life, and enjoy meaningful moments. The company operates with a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, continuously innovating and responsibly growing within the food manufacturing industry.
This particular job opportunity is for a Mixer position at the Kimwell Plant, working the 2nd shift from 1:45 pm to 10:15 pm, with the expectation to work overtime as needed. The Mixer role is pivotal in the bakery’s manufacturing process, primarily responsible for operating industrial-sized mixers to combine ingredients properly and efficiently to produce a variety of dough types. The position requires a keen eye for detail to ensure adherence to recipes, proper measurement of ingredients, and the maintenance of quality standards.
As a Mixer, the individual will be responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies, identifying and correctly using the necessary ingredients with appropriate lot numbers, and accurately completing all required documentation. The Mixer must be vigilant to examine the dough for any foreign materials to prevent contamination and maintain the integrity of the product. Operating industrial mixers and other associated manufacturing equipment effectively is essential, including adjusting dough mixtures to optimize machine performance.
Additionally, the Mixer plays a significant role in cleaning and maintaining the equipment and utensils, controlling allergens, and ensuring no cross-contamination occurs. The role involves reporting any food safety or quality issues promptly to supervisors to maintain the high standards of Dewey's Bakery products. The Mixer will communicate respectfully and effectively with coworkers and management and contribute to keeping a clean and safe working environment.
This position demands someone who can read, write, and comprehend English to handle production paperwork and data entry accurately. Candidates will ideally have previous experience in the food manufacturing industry, particularly familiarity with industrial-sized mixers and equipment. The ability to perform basic math calculations, understand safety rules, and utilize computer systems for documentation is also essential. Bilingual skills are considered a plus, supporting effective communication in the workplace.
The physical demands of this role include regular standing, walking, handling materials, and frequent stooping, kneeling, or crouching, with occasional sitting, climbing, or balancing required. The job requires lifting ingredients or boxes weighing between 20 and 50 pounds, which is frequent during the shift. The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels with temperatures ranging from 75 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Reasonable accommodations can be made to help employees with disabilities perform essential functions.
This opportunity at Dewey's Bakery offers a chance to be part of a well-established company with a rich heritage and dedication to quality and community. Working as a Mixer, employees will gain valuable experience in food manufacturing, contribute to producing beloved baked goods, and uphold the bakery's tradition of excellence.
