With a commitment to innovation and operational excellence, Penske fosters a collaborative and technologically advanced environment. This reputation makes it a favored employer for those seeking to grow careers in logistics and supply chain management.
The Logistics Trainee Program at Penske is a structured and hands-on management trainee experience crafted specifically for individuals transitioning from the military or who have recently transitioned in the last one to three years. This role is an excellent opportunity for junior to mid-level non-commissioned officers and junior officers to leverage their leadership skills in a fast-paced, people-focused business. The program spans approximately 9 to 12 months, starting at the beginning of each month, and includes comprehensive training across multiple logistics functions. Trainees will gain exposure to essential logistics operations such as customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and documentation control while learning to drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Kaizen and Lean processes.
This position is based in Fontana, CA, requiring daily commuting during the program with a potential for relocation upon completion. Penske offers a competitive wage of 25 dollars an hour, averaging an annual salary of approximately 55,000 dollars, which includes overtime. Along with a competitive pay scale, the company offers robust benefits including paid time off starting from day one, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage effective from the first month after hire, a 401K retirement plan eligible after 90 days, and an associate referral program with generous payouts. There are also numerous associate discounts and opportunities for career advancement within the company.
As a Logistics Trainee, you will have the invaluable opportunity to cultivate leadership capabilities necessary to oversee logistics operations effectively. Key responsibilities will include ensuring team motivation and engagement, fostering a safe work environment, managing daily operations to meet customer goals, resolving issues efficiently, and optimizing processes. Additionally, trainees will plan work assignments, evaluate dispatch productivity, and implement improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency. Support from Penske’s Veteran Business Resource Group, including mentoring and resources, helps ease the transition and ensures professional growth.
Overall, Penske Logistics presents an outstanding career development pathway for military veterans aiming to transition into logistics management roles. The program offers a blend of practical experience, leadership development, and competitive compensation, situated in an innovative and fast-paced industry environment. By joining Penske Logistics as a Logistics Trainee, you become part of a dynamic organization committed to professional excellence and continuous improvement in logistics and supply chain solutions. This role not only equips you with essential industry skills but also positions you for leadership advancement upon program completion.
