Job Description

Northrop Grumman is a leading global aerospace and defense technology company with a rich history of pioneering innovation that has shaped our nation's technological landscape. Renowned for groundbreaking achievements such as the first transatlantic flight, stealth bomber development, and lunar missions, Northrop Grumman continues to push the boundaries of possibility with a forward-thinking and inventive spirit. The company fosters a collaborative culture that values intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and the full engagement of each employee’s unique talents and perspectives. Dedicated to creating meaningful work, Northrop Grumman offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the personal and professional growth of its workforce.

The Space Network/Communications Systems Engineer position at Northrop Grumman is located onsite at Schriever Space Force Base near Colorado Springs, Colorado, as part of the Front Range Operations and Sustainment Team (FROST) program. This role is integral to liaising with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and Satellite Control Network (SCN), providing critical satellite support services to mission-driven customers. The FROST program’s primary mission involves real-time on-orbit satellite support, launch ascent coordination, and end-of-life operations for all NRO Operations Squadron missions. The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems requirements, offering comprehensive systems engineering solutions across space and satellite systems, and working to modernize both space and ground systems. This engineer will play a vital role in troubleshooting software issues, supporting risk management processes, and crafting detailed technical documentation and briefings for government stakeholders.

The position demands familiarity with systems engineering principles and experience with satellite operations and Agile development methodologies. A Top Secret SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph is required due to the sensitive nature of the work. The company encourages candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience but also considers those with equivalent work experience. Preferred candidates possess strong server system administration skills across platforms such as Linux and Windows, adeptness in database management, and hands-on experience with systems integration and software testing in virtualized environments. Effective communication skills and the ability to interface with multiple internal and external stakeholders are essential qualities for success in this role.

Northrop Grumman offers this critical role with a salary range of $103,600 to $155,400 per year, reflecting an employee's experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Additional compensation possibilities include overtime, shift differentials, discretionary and annual bonuses, and long-term incentives for qualifying management roles. Employees benefit from a robust suite of health insurance options, life and disability coverage, savings plans, paid holidays, and paid time off to support work-life balance. In alignment with its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Northrop Grumman maintains an equal opportunity employment policy and encourages applications from qualified individuals across all backgrounds. This opportunity offers a chance to join a historic company dedicated to innovation and national security while contributing to some of the most advanced missions in aerospace and defense today.
