Job Description
The Air National Guard is a distinguished branch of the United States military that uniquely combines the opportunity for individuals to serve their country while maintaining the flexibility to pursue a civilian career, either full-time or part-time. This dual-role capability allows members to engage in meaningful military service within their local communities without sacrificing professional aspirations outside of the military. Known for its rigorous training programs and commitment to leadership development, the Air National Guard prepares its members to excel both in their military duties and their civilian professions by providing access to advanced technical instruction and comprehensive leadership education.
The administrative role within the Air National Guard is vital to the effective operation of its organizations and leadership. Administrators serve as the backbone of the operational environment by ensuring that offices are managed efficiently, human resources programs are well-organized, and executive leaders receive the support necessary to fulfill their missions. As an Air National Guard Administrator, you will be responsible for managing organizational communications, overseeing personnel and manpower programs, and providing high-level administrative assistance to senior military and civilian executives. This position demands a high level of organizational skill, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary starting from $49,838.78 and the unique experience of being 'on the road,' allowing the individual to handle responsibilities that may require mobility or travel as part of the role. Candidates who are new to the military will undertake an 8.5-week Basic Military Training course at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, followed by specialized technical training tailored to the administrator role.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a high school diploma or GED, with preference given to those who have completed coursework in business, English composition, computer software, and keyboarding. A minimum Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score of 55 in the administrative category is required, alongside a valid state driver’s license to operate government vehicles. This position is suited for individuals who are dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple administrative tasks efficiently. The role also offers relevant civilian job experience applicable to office management and executive assistance, opening pathways for career growth both within the military and beyond.
Choosing to join the Air National Guard as an administrator is more than just a career decision; it is a commitment to serve, grow as a leader, and contribute to the effectiveness and readiness of a critical military branch. The comprehensive training, competitive compensation, and unique job experiences make this an unparalleled opportunity for those seeking to combine service with professional development in a supportive and challenging environment.
