Job Description
The Air National Guard is a unique and vital component of the United States military, providing both state and federal missions with a rich tradition of excellence and service. This branch offers individuals an extraordinary opportunity to serve their country while maintaining the flexibility of working full-time or part-time in civilian careers. As a member of the Air National Guard, you contribute to the defense and security of the nation and your local community, taking pride in being part of an elite force that is trained to the highest standards by some of the best technical experts in the field. The Air National Guard focuses on cultivating leadership skills and technical proficiency, providing members with a rewarding career path and invaluable experience that can propel their future to new heights.
The position available is for an Administrator within the Air National Guard, a role that delivers essential support functions necessary for the smooth operation of military organizations and leadership. The Administrator provides comprehensive office management and human resources support that is critical to maintaining an efficient, organized, and productive work environment. This position demands a high level of professionalism and organizational skill to manage communication processes, document preparation, and workflow coordination. You'll provide executive administrative support to high-ranking officers and senior staff, ensuring that the administrative backbone of operations runs seamlessly.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary starting at $49,838.78 per year and involves work that may require travel or working on the road. As an Administrator, you will manage organizational communication by preparing correspondence, distributing information, tracking deadlines, and overseeing workflow to guarantee tasks are completed efficiently. You will also take charge of human resources aspects, managing personnel programs and manpower plans that support the operational readiness and staffing needs of your unit. Your role as an executive support provider is indispensable, assisting General Officers and Senior Executive Service civilians with critical administrative functions that enable them to focus on leadership and strategic decision-making.
Successful candidates will undergo rigorous training that includes 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, followed by specialized technical training specific to this administrative role. The position requires military service commitment as a commissioned officer in the Air National Guard, which means you will swear an oath to both state and federal authorities. Educationally, candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED, with recommended coursework in business, English composition, computer software, and keyboarding to enhance their administrative competencies. Additional requirements include a minimum ASVAB score of 55 in the administrative category and possession of a valid driver's license to operate government vehicles. This is one of the select careers in the military that can seamlessly parallel civilian professions such as office management and executive assistant positions, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to combine military service with career development.
Joining the Air National Guard not only means committing to serve but also gaining access to top-tier leadership development, skills training, and career advancement opportunities. This role allows you to be an integral part of a mission-focused team while also providing you with a stable, fulfilling job that supports both your military and civilian life ambitions. The Air National Guard’s commitment to its members makes it an ideal place for motivated, disciplined individuals seeking to contribute to national security while growing professionally and personally.
