This blend of military precision with civilian flexibility makes the Air National Guard an attractive path for those who want to combine service, career growth, and community involvement.
The role of an Air National Guard Administrator (3F5X1) is pivotal to the seamless functioning of the organization. These administrative professionals provide essential support that ensures organizations, executives, and commanders maintain efficient and highly organized working environments. The position focuses on vital background functions such as office management and human resources, all of which ensure that strategic objectives are met through structured communication and manpower alignment.
This position is a full-time role with an annual pay starting from $49,838.78. Administrators in this capacity can expect to be actively engaged in managing core administrative tasks such as correspondence preparation, workflow management, and tracking of organizational activities to support communications within the Air National Guard. They also play a significant role in human resources management, maintaining personnel and manpower programs that are essential for the unit's operational readiness.
Candidates in this role may also provide executive administrative support to General Officers and Senior Executive Service civilians. This level of support requires high organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and secure environment.
Training for new entrants includes an intensive 8.5-week Basic Military Training (BMT) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, TX, followed by specialized technical training tailored to the administrator's function. Successful candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, with coursework in business, English composition, computer software, and keyboarding considered highly desirable. Additionally, a minimum ASVAB score of 55 in the Administrative category is required, along with a valid state driver’s license to operate government vehicles when necessary.
