Job Requirements

  • Military service with a contract as a commissioned officer in the Air Force
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and completion of a didactic program in dietetics approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
  • Knowledge of the principles of human nutrition, regular and therapeutic diets, cultural food habits and foodservice management
  • Minimum of 24 months of experience in dietetic assignments
  • Completion of Officer Training School course
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and have not reached your 42nd birthday

Job Duties

  • Provide sound nutrition practices and supportive environments for deployed military operations that optimize human performance
  • Perform a variety of inpatient and outpatient duties, including nutrition assessment and patient education and menu planning
  • Determine requirements for foodservice facilities, personnel, equipment and operations
  • Serve as an adviser to a commander in matters of nutrition and dietetics
