Job Description
Leidos is a global leader in providing innovative technology solutions and services tailored to support government agencies, commercial customers, and military operations. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and generated annual revenues of about $16.7 billion as of the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. The company is committed to advancing national security, defense, health, and engineering sectors by delivering smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations. Leidos is known for its forward-thinking spirit and a deep dedication to serving those who serve the country.
The Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) team at Leidos offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to behavioral health professionals who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of U.S. military service members and their families. This position focuses on providing non-medical counseling, consultation, and outreach services aimed at addressing challenges unique to military-connected children, youth, and families. The role is particularly important as military families often face stressors associated with frequent moves, deployment separations, and the demands of military life that can impact the emotional well-being and social development of children and teens.
The CYB-MFLC position supports the school calendar and involves working directly within schools populated by military youth, such as those at Laughlin Air Force Base, TX. The counselor's responsibilities include engaging with youth through participation in activities, providing guidance and coaching to both parents and school staff, and leading presentations focused on social-emotional learning and social skills development. The position promotes positive behavioral health practices and creative engagement resources to foster resilience, adaptability, and healthy emotional development. Additionally, counselors build relationships with families by attending community and installation events to enhance outreach and support transitions, including adjustments related to new schools and homes.
Leidos values the importance of a supportive work environment and offers multiple benefits to CYB-MFLC counselors such as no requirement to handle insurance claims, write progress notes, or develop treatment plans. Counselors are also provided with iPads for efficient digital reporting without the need to handle personally identifiable or health information. Paid federal holidays, free behavioral healthcare training, reimbursement for license renewals, eligibility for a 401(k) retirement plan, and centralized support via Leidos’ Counseling Center of Excellence are additional advantages that enhance the professional experience.
The role may also require responding to emergent situations on military installations, traversing varied indoor and outdoor locations, including rugged terrain, and complying with site-specific requirements as mandated by the Department of Defense. Thanks to recent legislation under the National Defense Authorization Act, licensed MFLCs can provide non-medical counseling to military families anywhere in the United States, regardless of state licensure portability, expanding the opportunities for counselors to make an impact across multiple locations.
Leidos invites licensed behavioral health professionals who are committed to advancing military family well-being to apply for this meaningful role. The salary range for this position is $59,150 to $106,925 annually, reflecting the level of experience, education, and job responsibilities. Join Leidos and become part of a company that is dedicated to innovation, excellence, and, most importantly, supporting those who serve our nation and their families.
