Job Description

Leidos is a prominent industry and technology leader dedicated to serving government and commercial customers by delivering innovative digital and mission solutions. Based in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and reported annual revenues of about $16.7 billion for the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. The company is known for its commitment to innovation, excellence, and making a meaningful impact across various sectors, especially in defense and military services. Leidos fosters a dynamic work environment that encourages employees to think differently, push boundaries, and advance rapidly to meet the needs of its diverse clientele.

The current opportunity is for licensed behavioral health professionals to join the Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral team supporting Camp Pendleton, California. This role is specifically designed to offer a unique chance to contribute significantly to the well-being of U.S. military service members and their families, especially the children and youth who face unique emotional and environmental challenges due to the stress associated with military life. The position is a 9-month school calendar role, aligned with the academic calendar of the schools served, reflecting the commitment to supporting youth through critical developmental phases.

As a Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC), you will provide non-medical counseling, consultation, and outreach services. This preventive approach aims to address and resolve challenges before they escalate into more severe issues. Your work will involve providing support to faculty, staff, parents, children, and teens within military-connected schools and communities. Responsibilities include observing and engaging with youth through activities, offering coaching and guidance, modeling behavior management techniques, presenting on social skills and emotional learning, and building strong rapport with families by participating in community and installation events. You will play an instrumental role in helping military children adjust to transitions such as adapting to new schools and homes.

The role comes with several benefits that enhance your ability to focus on your mission, including no requirement for insurance filing, progress notes, or treatment plan development. Leidos provides tools like an iPad for digital reporting without handling personal identifiable information or protected health information, paid federal holidays, free unlimited behavioral healthcare training, reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees, eligibility to participate in a 401K retirement plan, and centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence offering best practices, expert speakers, and top-tier resources.

The position also involves duties that require physical activity and flexibility, such as responding to emergent situations across various locations on military installations, including traversing rugged outdoor terrain and working in diverse weather conditions. As the role involves working on military installations, counselors must comply with site-specific requirements. Importantly, under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed counselors can provide services across all U.S. states and territories regardless of where they are licensed, facilitating mobility and access to support where it is most needed.

Leidos values employees who challenge the status quo and are driven to innovate and excel. If you are a licensed behavioral health professional passionate about supporting military families and contributing to a vital mission in a rewarding and supported environment, this CYB-MFLC position at Camp Pendleton offers a meaningful career path. The pay range for this job is $59,150 to $106,925, reflecting experience, education, and responsibilities. Leidos also emphasizes non-discrimination and equal employment opportunities, ensuring a welcoming workplace for all qualified applicants.
