The Order Taker/Runner position is integral to ensuring a seamless and memorable dining experience at H-E-B Restaurant. This role involves taking guest orders accurately, preparing beverages including alcoholic drinks, delivering food, and maintaining both the dining and patio areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The position requires a keen focus on customer interaction, where building strong relationships and providing detailed information on menu items and specials is crucial. Order Takers/Runners must be adept at processing various payment methods quickly and accurately while using suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales.

In addition to customer service duties, this role is responsible for upholding compliance with TABC regulations and store-specific standard operating procedures. Maintaining sanitation in food preparation and beverage areas, cleaning tables, and managing the beverage station are essential elements of the job. The Order Taker/Runner also requires the ability to handle guest feedback gracefully and resolve issues, demonstrating professionalism and a positive attitude even during busy or challenging periods. This role supports teamwork across departments to create a cohesive environment focused on delivering exceptional experiences to every guest.

This position is suitable for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented setting, with responsibilities that include constant movement and physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • one plus years of experience in customer service
  • experience in restaurant POS systems preferred
  • completion of alcohol seller training and cash handling training upon hire
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • ability to work extended and/or rotating schedules
  • ability to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
  • ability to frequently stand, walk, and be exposed to wet and cold conditions
  • ability to frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic materials
  • ability to occasionally lift, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, pivot, twist, push, pull, pinch, perform fine motor movements, shoulder circumduction
  • ability to occasionally be exposed to heat, ambient temperatures, and loud noise
  • ability to lift and manage loads of 50 pounds
  • willingness to ask for assistance when lifting heavy items

Job Qualifications
