Job Description
IEH Laboratories is a prominent leader in the field of food safety, dedicated to providing highly reliable testing services to ensure consumer health and safety across the food industry. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, IEH Laboratories has earned a respected reputation for delivering precise, accurate, and timely microbiological analyses to clients ranging from food manufacturers to regulatory agencies. With extensive expertise in environmental monitoring, pathogen detection, and microbiological quality control, the company plays an essential role in helping businesses meet stringent food safety standards and maintain compliance with government regulations. IEH Laboratories continually invests in advanced technologies and highly trained personnel to uphold its commitment to excellence and innovation in laboratory services.
The company is currently seeking a skilled Microbiologist to join its St. Paul facility on a 12-hour rotational day shift schedule. This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $22 to $24, along with a comprehensive benefits package available after a brief waiting period. The Microbiologist role is pivotal to ensuring the accurate analysis of food and environmental samples, thereby supporting the company’s mission to safeguard public health through superior laboratory testing. As a Microbiologist at IEH Laboratories, candidates will engage in diverse microbiological tasks that require attention to detail, adherence to aseptic techniques, and the ability to operate within a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Key responsibilities include logging and receiving samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), preparing samples for conventional, molecular, or instrumental analysis, conducting microbial enumerations, recording and interpreting data results, and troubleshooting analytical issues. Additionally, the role demands a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, including decontamination and sanitation of the laboratory environment, as well as proper disposal of samples and laboratory trash. The candidate will also provide exemplary customer service to clients by ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.
The position requires working shifts in a rotating schedule: one week involves working Wednesday and Thursday, while the following week entails Monday, Tuesday, and Friday through Sunday. Due to the presence of various food allergens in the lab setting, individuals with moderate to severe food allergies are discouraged from applying. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for those with an associate degree in biological sciences or a related field, with a strong preference given to candidates holding a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in data entry, multitasking abilities, discretion, and strong communication skills are essential qualities for success in this role.
IEH Laboratories supports a collaborative work environment fostering innovation, professional growth, and adherence to high standards of food safety. Joining this team means becoming part of an organization committed to making a significant impact on public health through diligent scientific work and customer-focused service. The company’s robust benefits plan includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, flexible spending account plans, paid time off, holidays, bereavement leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, ensuring employees' well-being and financial security.
