Job Description
Nordstrom, Inc. is a leading fashion retailer known for its exceptional customer service and top-quality merchandise. With a rich history and a strong commitment to creating a customer-first experience, Nordstrom operates a range of retail stores including full-service department stores, specialty stores, and online platforms, offering clothing, shoes, accessories, and beauty products. The company prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment where employees are valued as the most important asset, backed by a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career growth. Nordstrom's dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion helps make it a great place to work for people from all backgrounds and experiences.
As a Unit Manager at Nordstrom, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the unit’s success by wearing multiple hats. This position is more than just managing daily operations—it involves being a coach, mentor, and leader who drives both employee engagement and outstanding customer service. You’ll be the go-to person guiding a crew of hospitality professionals to perform at their best, while also handling the business side of driving sales, controlling costs, and implementing store strategies effectively.
Your day-to-day activities will include completing a comprehensive Manager in Training program that equips you with everything you need to run a successful unit from hiring and training staff to managing workflows and maintaining high productivity. Hiring and motivating team members who are passionate about customer experience is a core aspect of this role. You will support the unit’s goals by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, maintaining cost efficiencies, and fostering a positive environment where customers have memorable interactions with the brand.
This full-time role offers a competitive annual salary range of $60,000 to $96,500 (California-specific), with compensation influenced by your location, skills, and experience. Additionally, you may qualify for performance-based incentives and bonuses. Nordstrom provides an extensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options, 401(k) retirement plans, paid time off, and employee merchandise discounts, ensuring that you are supported both professionally and personally.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and interest in quality food and fresh beverages, especially in specialty coffee or upscale full-service restaurant management contexts with over two years of relevant experience. Strong communication and basic accounting skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Flexibility in scheduling and holding necessary food handler certifications where applicable are also required.
Nordstrom is committed to equitable hiring practices and encourages applicants with disabilities or specific accommodation needs to reach out for support during the application process. Applicants in locations such as Los Angeles or San Francisco should be aware that Nordstrom conducts background checks consistent with local ordinances and regulations.
If you are passionate about hospitality, leadership, and delivering exceptional customer service experiences, this unit manager role at Nordstrom offers a dynamic and rewarding career path with growth potential and a supportive company culture.
