Job Description

Summit is a dedicated brand operating within the corrections segment, committed to providing quality food services to correctional facilities across the United States. As a part of Elior North America, Summit plays a pivotal role in ensuring that incarcerated individuals receive nutritious and enjoyable meals every day. The company emphasizes the importance of social interaction and humane treatment through their meal programs, aiming to improve the overall environment within the correctional institutions they serve.

Elior North America is a premier food service provider known for its focus on diversity, employee development, and advancement opportunities. The company fosters an inclusive work environment where employees from all backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to grow their careers. Elior’s commitment to its workforce is evident in its extensive training programs and supportive policies. Employees not only benefit from competitive pay but also gain valuable skills that enhance their professional journey within the food service industry.

The role of a Commissary Manager at Summit involves the comprehensive supervision and management of the commissary operations within a correctional facility. Based in Santa Rosa, California, this full-time onsite position requires the manager to oversee the entire commissary program according to the specifications outlined in the facility contract and under the direction of the District Manager. The Commissary Manager acts as the key point of contact for maintaining effective communication with the client, commissary partners, and the Food Service Director at the location.

Responsibilities include actively supervising the sales process within the commissary, ensuring that all transactions and operations comply with company standards and policies. The manager also directs inmate labor, where applicable, to support the daily operations of the commissary effectively. Accurate financial reporting is critical in this role, as the manager must maintain precise records of sales and inventory to support fiscal responsibility.

Inventory management is another crucial aspect of the role, requiring the Commissary Manager to maintain optimum stock levels, source products strategically, and manage the product mix to reduce costs without compromising quality. This ensures the commissary offers a valuable service while also staying within budget constraints. The manager is also expected to implement and support all company standards and initiatives, demonstrating a clear understanding of Summit’s vision, mission, and goals to foster a positive workplace culture.

Compensation for this role is competitive, with a pay rate of $30.00 per hour, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the position. Summit and Elior North America provide a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with additional voluntary offerings like accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance. The benefits package also includes retirement plans, paid time off, holiday pay, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and tuition reimbursement for full-time employees. These benefits highlight the company’s commitment to employee well-being and professional growth.
