The position of Cafeteria Manager 2 within Student Nutrition Services is a pivotal role tasked with supervising and managing the preparation and serving of meals at a school site cafeteria that handles between 600 and 799 meal equivalents. This management role requires overseeing all aspects of cafeteria operations, including food quality, safety, staff supervision, record-keeping, and compliance with USDA and other regulatory guidelines. The Cafeteria Manager 2 is expected to lead a team of clerical and professional personnel, ensuring efficient and effective service to students and staff. The role demands strong leadership capabilities to direct work, evaluate employee performance, handle personnel matters such as hiring and discipline, and promote positive public relations with stakeholders including students, teachers, and parents.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in food service management, nutrition principles, culinary techniques, and compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, the position involves managing budgets, conserving resources, and implementing cost-saving measures, ensuring operational efficiency without compromising quality. Communication is key in this role, requiring coordination with school principals, SNS base school staff, and satellite sites to maintain program quality. The Cafeteria Manager 2 also engages in planning, scheduling, and directing assigned teams to meet district goals and strategic objectives.

This full-time supervisory role comes with a requirement to pass and maintain Serv-Safe certification and complete the HCPS Cafeteria Manager Intern Program. Candidates must have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in food service, including three years in management or supervision. A master's degree in food service or a related field can substitute one year of the experience requirement. The role involves physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels. As essential personnel, Cafeteria Managers may be held over or called back as necessary.

Job Requirements

Job Duties
