Gray Media is a thriving multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, known for being the nation’s largest owner of top-rated local television stations and digital assets. Serving 117 full-power television markets, Gray Media reaches approximately 37 percent of US television households. Their expansive portfolio boasts 80 markets that feature the top-rated television station and 100 markets with stations ranked either first or second in average all-day ratings across 116 Nielsen-measured markets as of 2025. This remarkable presence highlights the company's prominence and influence in the broadcast media industry. Additionally, Gray Media owns the largest Telemundo Affiliate group, spanning 47 markets, and operates Gray Digital Media—a comprehensive digital agency that provides national and local clients with innovative digital marketing strategies and advanced digital products and services. Their media empire further includes video production companies such as Raycom Sports, Tupelo Media Group, and PowerNation Studios, along with premier studio production facilities Assembly Atlanta and Third Rail Studios.

KOLO 8 News Now, a vital part of Gray Media, is the ABC and Telemundo affiliate television station dedicated to serving the Reno/Sparks area, Northern Nevada, and parts of eastern California. Broadcasting seven hours of news each weekday, KOLO is deeply committed to its community through initiatives like KOLO Cares, which partners with local non-profit organizations to support community causes and events. KOLO's role as a trusted news source is fortified by its focus on accurate and timely reporting, including weather updates which are crucial to the community.

The meteorologist position at KOLO offers an exciting opportunity to be a key on-air talent presenting weather forecasts and covering severe weather conditions during the 11 am and 3 pm newscasts from Monday to Friday. This role also includes serving as a weekday morning and evening fill-in meteorologist, offering significant flexibility and variation in broadcasting responsibilities. Ideal candidates will be passionate about meteorology and proficient at communicating complex weather phenomena clearly and engagingly to a broad audience. Beyond the live broadcasts, meteorologists are responsible for maintaining and updating the weather section of kolotv.com, ensuring digital content stays current and informative. They also play a vital role in providing weather-related content across KOLO’s social media platforms and digital weather app, reinforcing the station’s commitment to multi-platform engagement.

The role demands daily creation and presentation of weather forecasts for weekday newscasts, timely posting of weather updates and relevant information to various digital channels, and active participation as KOLO TV representatives in community events, demonstrating the station's dedication to public service and community engagement. This position promises a dynamic work environment within a respected media company that values diversity, inclusivity, and the provision of equal employment opportunities. KOLO and Gray Media maintain a drug-free workplace and uphold stringent policies against workplace harassment, fostering a professional and respectful work culture.
