This part-time Merchandiser role at McClatchy Media Company offers a unique opportunity to work on-site servicing products across multiple stores within the Charlotte area, predominantly the 28273 zip code and its surroundings. The position requires frequent travel up to 100% of the time to cover the assigned territory effectively. As a Merchandiser, you will report directly to the Supervisor of Merchandising and will not have direct reports. The offered compensation includes a competitive wage of $16 per hour, which encompasses travel time between accounts. Additionally, after three months of employment, employees may be eligible for retention and/or referral bonuses according to the company’s program details.

The Merchandiser’s primary responsibility revolves around ensuring that products are effectively displayed and replenished according to store and corporate standards. This part-time, non-exempt status role demands a high level of detail orientation, multitasking skills, and professionalism. Merchandisers must safely assemble shelves, racks, and display cases while adhering to measurement guidelines and following established merchandising plans such as planograms and flowcharts. Working within a retail environment, the role involves engaging with store personnel, maintaining product integrity including handling returns, and managing store relationships to support company goals.

The schedule for this position involves servicing assigned stores on designated weekdays as per an established schedule provided by the Supervisor of Merchandising. The role includes the responsibility to seek approval from supervisors when working outside of scheduled hours or if working more than 10 hours in a day or overtime. The position requires the use of company applications like Movista for tracking work hours and related company information. Candidates must possess reliable transportation and personal mobile devices such as cell phones or tablets to facilitate communication and work-related tasks.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, a 4-panel drug test (excluding THC), and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) clearance. This ensures that McClatchy maintains a safe and compliant work environment for all employees.
