Job Description

Varsity Spirit, a Varsity Brands company, stands as a leader in the spirit industry with over 50 years of experience shaping the domains of cheerleading, dance teams, performing arts, and yearbook production. With a global presence and a workforce exceeding 5,000 dedicated employees, Varsity Spirit is committed to fostering school spirit through a variety of high-impact services and products. These include innovative apparel, educational camps, clinics, competitive events, and yearbook offerings, impacting more than a million athletes annually. The company places paramount importance on safety, emphasizing the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of young participants and maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against abuse and misconduct.

The role offered is a seasonal Remote Merchandise Team Member position based in Ocean Township, New Jersey, primarily available from January through June and requiring weekend work from Thursday through Monday. This role plays a vital part during Varsity Spirit's peak season where team members are responsible for the sales and management of merchandise at events organized by OneBeatDance Brands, a subgroup within Varsity Spirit known for its dynamic and innovative dance industry events. This position offers a base pay of $18.50 per hour.

As a Merchandise Team Member, the individual will be tasked with selling a variety of merchandise and program booklets at event merchandise booths, answering customer inquiries, assisting with studio check-ins, restocking, and ensuring the booth’s seamless operation throughout the event. Interaction with dancers, parents, and studio directors is frequent, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to operate in fast-paced, lively environments. The team member also plays a key role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for all event attendees, acting as the main customer service liaison.

This position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods and lifting weights between 30 to 50 pounds related to event equipment and merchandise management. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and preferably have experience in the dance event industry, although this is not mandatory. The role includes preparing merchandise displays, conducting sales, managing inventory, assisting with venue navigation, and complying with all company policies and procedures.

Varsity Spirit values integrity, passion, service, respect, innovation, and transparency, embedding these principles deeply within their operational culture. The company offers comprehensive benefits for eligible employees, including health care options, wellness programs, financial benefits, paid time off, and various employee engagement opportunities. Joining Varsity Spirit means becoming part of an inclusive team dedicated to making a positive impact on students and educators while fostering a supportive and innovative work environment.
