Job Description

Our client is a top national ENR (Engineering News-Record) general contractor headquartered in Houston, Texas. With a strong reputation for excellence, they specialize in delivering large-scale, high-value commercial construction projects across the state of Texas and throughout the United States. The company boasts a robust backlog of over 50 million dollars in ongoing and upcoming projects, demonstrating their steady growth and market presence. Known for a people-first philosophy, the company fosters an environment where teamwork, professional development, and employee success are prioritized. They emphasize collaboration across departments and encourage innovative problem-solving to maintain their status as an industry leader. As a permanent employer, they offer competitive salaries ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 based on experience, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that supports the well-being and financial security of their team members.

As the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Manager, you will play a critical leadership role within the organization, reporting directly to senior operational leadership. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all MEP scopes on large commercial projects, ensuring that these projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires oversight of multiple mechanical, electrical, and specialty trade partners from the initial design phases through to commissioning and project closeout.

Your duties will include managing the entire MEP project lifecycle, from preconstruction activities such as reviewing drawings, specifications, and submittals for constructability and compliance, to resolving technical field issues and supporting real-time problem solving during construction. You will coordinate systems integration and ensure strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control processes. Additionally, you will lead cost control efforts, actively track project risks, manage change orders, and maintain accurate project documentation using advanced construction management platforms.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in overseeing MEP scopes on large commercial or mission-critical construction projects, including facilities like laboratories, data centers, or industrial plants. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, and commissioning practices is essential. You must have demonstrated the ability to lead and coordinate trade partners, drive accountability, and deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget. Excellent communication and coordination skills are required to collaborate effectively across multifunctional teams in a fast-paced, high-growth construction environment. Willingness to travel for key project assignments throughout Texas is also a necessary aspect of the role.

This position represents a significant opportunity for a seasoned MEP professional to join a well-established, industry-leading company in Houston that values employee development and success. The company offers not only a rewarding salary but also health benefits, dental and vision coverage, a 401k plan with company match, per diem for travel, and a performance-based bonus structure. This is a permanent position with long-term career growth potential within a thriving construction sector.
