Job Description
Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (BGCTM) is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the potential of young people by providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. With over 50 years of experience, BGCTM emphasizes strong leadership, strong connections, and creating great futures for its members. The organization serves as a vital community resource, aiming to empower youth to become caring, productive, and responsible citizens. BGCTM's mission centers on reaching all young people, especially those who need the most support, through comprehensive programs across five core areas that nurture their growth and development.
The Membership Aide role at BGCTM is crucial in maintaining the positive daily experience of members, their families, and visitors. As the first point of contact, the Membership Aide greets everyone who enters the club with a friendly and professional demeanor while offering valuable information about the club's diverse programs. This position involves assisting with membership applications and processes, thereby directly contributing to the efficient operation of the organization. Security and organization are also key components of the role, as the Membership Aide is responsible for monitoring lobby activity to prevent unauthorized access and ensuring that the entrance area remains safe, clean, and well-kept. The role requires keen attention to detail alongside excellent communication skills, as the Membership Aide often coordinates with program staff during member pick-up to maintain a secure environment.
This part-time position offers flexible hours primarily in the afternoons to accommodate educational or personal commitments. Working hours during the school year run from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, shifting slightly to 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM during school breaks. The position comes with competitive pay starting at $14.50 per hour and access to comprehensive benefits, including enrollment in Nivati, a free mental health and wellbeing program. Additionally, membership aides at BGCTM enjoy paid time off and annual tuition reimbursement, supporting both their professional and personal development.
Beyond general job duties, BGCTM pride themselves on fostering a respectful and encouraging work culture characterized by core values such as generosity, respectfulness, encouragement, accountability, and trustworthiness. These values not only define the workplace atmosphere but also shape how employees engage with youth and the community. Prospective candidates should be enthusiastic, energetic, and committed to making a positive impact on the community while pursuing further career goals in data entry, billing, or accounts receivable.
The role requires an individual at least 17 years old with excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff alike. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred as they enhance communication within the diverse community BGCTM serves. As part of a commitment to member safety and organizational integrity, new hires must clear background checks, drug screening, fingerprinting, and provide professional or character references. With BGCTM, employees enter an environment dedicated to safety, inclusion, and development, ensuring every employee can contribute meaningfully while growing personally and professionally.
Joining BGCTM as a Membership Aide means contributing to an organization that values strong connections and nurturing promising futures. It provides a meaningful part-time opportunity for individuals passionate about youth development and community involvement, supported by enriching benefits and a positive, values-driven workplace.
