The Member Relations role is a vital position within the JOHN REED team, responsible for creating an impeccable and memorable experience for every member and guest who enters the club. Serving as the first point of contact at check-in, this position demands excellence in customer service, communication, and operational support. The successful candidate will be highly approachable, detail-oriented, and proactive in supporting both fitness operations and administrative functions. A key focus of this role is to uphold and embody JOHN REED's distinctive brand standards while fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects impeccable hospitality.

Responsibilities include welcoming new and existing members, conducting fitness inductions, guiding members through club facilities, and assisting with booking appointments across various amenities such as spa treatments, pool cabanas, fitness classes, and restaurant reservations. The member relations professional will also handle administrative tasks, including managing member contracts, data entry, correspondence, and updating account information. This role requires maintaining seamless communication with members to monitor satisfaction and gather valuable feedback for continuous improvement.

Additionally, collaboration with personal trainers and group fitness instructors is essential to deliver an unparalleled fitness experience. This includes setting up fitness studios, assisting with member check-ins for class registrations, and helping reset studios after sessions to maintain cleanliness and order. Support for special events and participation in team development meetings are also integral to this position. JOHN REED offers a $20 per hour compensation for this role, and it reports directly to the Club Manager. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of service industry experience
  • proficiency in using POS systems and relevant business software
  • prior experience in boutique fitness training, operations, or management
  • exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written formats
  • ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • experience in personal or membership-based sales with proven ability to drive engagement and retention
  • comfortable handling high-volume phone lines while maintaining warmth and professionalism
  • flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • dependable and accountable with strong ownership of responsibilities
  • willingness to adopt and implement app-based technology
  • understanding or appreciation of multiple fitness modalities
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate stairs across multiple floors

  • understanding or appreciation of multiple fitness modalities preferred
  • collaborative team player enthusiastic about being a founding trainer for a growing brand

Job Duties

  • Serve as first point of contact at check-in
  • create a welcoming environment that reflects John Reed's hospitality
  • stay informed on the latest club offerings to guarantee exceptional member experience
  • conduct new fitness member inductions and assist with welcome tours
  • assist members with booking spa appointments, pool cabanas, class bookings, and restaurant reservations
  • prepare new member welcome gifts
  • discuss all of JOHN REED's amenities confidently
  • reach out via phone or email to assist with account updates, payment info, and general inquiries
  • perform administrative duties including filing members' contracts, data entry, telephone and email correspondence, updating contact information
  • proactively monitor member satisfaction and relay feedback to management
  • maintain regular communication with members in person and via other channels
  • partner with personal trainers and group fitness instructors to ensure ultimate fitness experience
  • complete full fitness studio setup for class formats and assist with member check-ins
  • assist with fitness studio resets post-class maintaining order and cleanliness
  • assist fitness and marketing teams with event setup and breakdown
  • attend developmental and team meetings
  • perform any other tasks and duties assigned by management
