The Maintenance Technician role within MEGASYS® at EMD Electronics presents an exciting opportunity in Austin, TX, for individuals interested in the semiconductor industry. MEGASYS® specializes in managing gases, chemicals, and slurries, delivering critical on-site support in semiconductor manufacturing environments. The Maintenance Technician plays an essential part in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of highly specialized chemicals and gases used in semiconductor chip production—integral components for a wide range of electronic devices we depend on daily.

This full-time position involves maintaining advanced chemical and gas blending equipment, handling chemical reprocessing, and operating life safety systems. The technician will conduct daily preventative maintenance, perform technical repairs on the distribution equipment, and address chemical system leaks while supporting a team driven by safety, quality, and productivity metrics. The role demands physical activity, including walking several miles throughout the facility, climbing ladders with proper safety equipment, lifting moderate weights, and working in diverse conditions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance or trades work experience
  • ability to walk 3-6 miles per day throughout the facility
  • ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet using fall protection
  • ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • ability to bend knees and reach overhead
  • eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance or trades work experience
  • completion of trade/vocational school or associate degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • proficiency with PLCs, including troubleshooting
  • experience with startup and commissioning
  • experience with installation and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • experience in continuous improvement
  • ability to read P&IDs and PFDs
  • familiarity with gas and chemical delivery systems in ultra-high purity operations
  • knowledge of safe work practices and lockout, tag out procedures
  • strong mechanical aptitude
  • ability to read gauges and use precision measuring equipment
  • understanding of materials of construction and chemical compatibility
  • proficient with MS Office Suite
  • excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Conduct daily maintenance of chemical, gas, and slurry distribution systems
  • write technical documentation for process development
  • ensure accurate documentation of all activities performed
  • read, interpret, and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • execute technical repairs on equipment
  • perform chemical system leak repairs
  • collaborate with team to improve safety, quality, and productivity metrics
