This particular role as a CBRE Meeting and Events Manager is a vital position within the Workplace Experience function. The successful candidate will manage a small but dynamic team dedicated to supporting meetings, events, and conference services for one of CBRE's premier clients at their new Global Headquarters Office. This highly visible and fast-paced environment demands strong organizational skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to effectively collaborate with executive-level stakeholders. The role involves overseeing day-to-day activities, ensuring service excellence, and managing client relationships.

The work schedule is generally from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with some requirements for evening oversight of meetings or events. This role requires flexibility to meet business needs and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. The Meeting and Events Manager will be responsible for supervising staff, facilitating their development through coaching and performance management, managing department budgets, and driving continuous improvements in processes and systems to enhance event success.

Additionally, the manager will serve as the primary liaison for clients regarding forecast and strategic planning for meetings and events, ensuring all operations and vendor activities comply with the established requirements. They will also monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs), and benchmarks to identify and resolve gaps. The position demands advanced problem-solving capabilities, leadership to motivate the team, and communication skills to navigate complex, sensitive conversations. The ideal candidate will possess 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role with direct management responsibilities and have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with advanced mathematical skills for budgeting and financial calculations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, appraising, and rewarding performance
  • Strong leadership skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Ability to guide exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset
  • Advanced math skills including ability to calculate percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations

Job Duties

  • Provide formal supervision to employees
  • Monitor the training and development of staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching
  • Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities
  • Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff
  • Set and track staff and department deadlines

  • Serve as primary contact with clients for meeting and events forecasts and strategies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client inquiries and escalated complaints
  • Maintain department budget
  • Approve purchase orders for event supplies as requested by the team
  • Implement enhancements for event success by improving processes, procedures, and systems
  • Review reports to measure productivity and present findings to management
  • Ensure operations and vendors are compliant with location requirements
  • Accountable for tracking department SLAs, KPIs, and benchmarks
  • Monitor related performance data and identify solutions for gaps
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values
  • Influence parties of shared interests to reach agreement
  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how it integrates with others to achieve team objectives
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues
