They also use population health tools to help identify and close care gaps, contributing to improved chronic care management and preventative health initiatives. Extensive on-the-job training equips scribes with knowledge in clinical workflows, documentation standards, population health data, and chronic condition management.

Ideal candidates are individuals on pre-medical tracks or pursuing careers in health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, or medical coding, who seek a meaningful and paid practical experience within a clinical setting. Committing to at least one year in this full-time role, Medical Scribes support providers through documenting approximately 80% of their time, contributing to clinical documentation improvement initiatives, and assisting with administrative duties such as placing orders and managing referrals.
